Bridal Henna
Leighsa has seen her fair share of weddings and by the time she was planning her own she knew exactly what she wanted. One of the things she had to have was the Indian bridal tradition of Henna.
In India one of the important rituals for a wedding is 'Mehndi' (commonly known as henna). Mehndi is believed to signify the strength of a Bride's marriage as well as the amount of love that she will receive in her husband's house. It is said that the darker the color of the mehndi (on the hands and the feet of a bride), the stronger the marriage will be and the longer it will last.
When Leighsa got her henna done all the designers here at Branch Out went nuts over it! It was so intricate, beautiful, and DARK! We know she and Ronnie will have a strong lasting marriage!

Wish Upon a Wedding- Inspired by the San Francisco Dream Wedding Giveaway
All photos courtesy of Kate Triano
The couple married was Vanessa and Mike who met after graduating from the Air Force Academy. Mike deployed overseas during the war, while he was away Vanessa was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Throughout the wedding contest, Vanessa has undergone numerous cancer treatments. She took a break from the treatments long enough to have her dream wedding in San Francisco and honeymoon in Napa.
I was honored to design her personal and ceremony flowers...all yellows: Football mums, vanda and cymbidium orchids, billy balls, and Skyline roses and rose petals. When I came to deliver her personal flowers Vanessa was gorgeous, of course. What I remember most was her constant smile and laughter. What a beautiful person inside and out!
By celebrating the the strength and love of this amazing couple it is a great reminder of why I love what I do.
Last Saturday I did a wedding contest to benefit a wonderful couple. This wedding inspired Liz Guthrie a San Jose, Calif., wedding planner and organizer of the contest to launch a nationwide nonprofit, Wish Upon A Wedding, which grants weddings to terminally ill patients. Wish Upon a Wedding is the World’s first nonprofit wedding wish granting organization, Wish Upon a Wedding provides weddings at destinations across the United States for individuals facing life-threatening illness. It is a chance for couples to enjoy a very special day, without any thoughts of existing health issues, while surrounded by their closest family and friends.
